The Mantle of Korathyn
Also known as: The Irontooth Masterwork, The Five-Clan Plate, Korathyn's Legacy
The Mantle of Korathyn is a masterwork suit of Ignaelite plate armor forged by Rhenka Irontooth, the current Master of the Forge at Forgepeak, as the crowning achievement of her career and a deliberate tribute to the legendary First Smith who produced the original armaments of the Order's founding generation. Each plate was individually forged using the full Draconic Fire-forging process, with dragon scale shavings from all five elemental clans incorporated into the alloy of their respective sections, producing a suit that carries within it a physical trace of Drakonian unity as well as its maker's unmatched technical skill.

Overview
The Mantle of Korathyn is a legendary armor in Landorya. Its known origin is Commissioned by the Obsidian Order as a gift to the current Lord of the Flame Draegos Ironmaw on the occasion of his twentieth year of rule, with full funding from the Ministry of the Forge and two years of Rhenka Irontooth's exclusive labor. The dragon scale contributions were formally donated by bonded dragons belonging to each of the five elemental clans in a ceremony at the Five-Spired Sanctuary before forging began.. It is currently associated with Lord of the Flame Draegos Ironmaw. Its most cited abilities include Full-body Ignaelite protection: all properties of standard Ignaelite plate with the additional benefit of elemental cross-coverage, the multi-clan scale incorporation providing resistance to all five elemental attack types rather than only fire, Harmonic resonance: the Pyrantine inlays in the joint sections produce a subtle vibration when the wearer is in proximity to dragons of any elemental clan, functioning as a passive early-warning for dragon presence or agitation, and Enhanced fire-magic channeling comparable to Ignaelite Blades, enabling the wearer to cast fire-aligned spells through the armor itself rather than through a separate focus. Accounts also warn of a drawback: The Mantle cannot be worn by anyone who has violated the Dragonsoul Pact's conditions through deliberate harm to a bonded dragon. Those who attempt it report i…
History
Completed six years ago after twenty-seven months of continuous work, the Mantle of Korathyn was presented to Draegos Ironmaw in a ceremony at the Eternal Flame attended by the full Obsidian Order and delegations from every major Drakonian city. Rhenka Irontooth's reputation, already high, was elevated to near-legendary status in the immediate aftermath, with the Ministry of the Forge receiving requests for her biographical details from three foreign courts within a year. The armor has been worn in battle once — the suppression of a shadow clan internal dispute that the Seat of Shadows escalated to the Lord's personal intervention — and emerged without visible damage.
Powers & Abilities
- ✦ Full-body Ignaelite protection: all properties of standard Ignaelite plate with the additional benefit of elemental cross-coverage, the multi-clan scale incorporation providing resistance to all five elemental attack types rather than only fire
- ✦ Harmonic resonance: the Pyrantine inlays in the joint sections produce a subtle vibration when the wearer is in proximity to dragons of any elemental clan, functioning as a passive early-warning for dragon presence or agitation
- ✦ Enhanced fire-magic channeling comparable to Ignaelite Blades, enabling the wearer to cast fire-aligned spells through the armor itself rather than through a separate focus
- ✦ Structural self-maintenance: minor damage such as surface scratches and hairline stress fractures in the alloy fill themselves over time through a residual Ignaelite property that the Ministry of the Forge has not yet been able to fully document
Curse or Drawback
The Mantle cannot be worn by anyone who has violated the Dragonsoul Pact's conditions through deliberate harm to a bonded dragon. Those who attempt it report immediate onset of an internal heat that does not stop until the armor is removed, and the plates develop visible surface discoloration that persists for weeks. Rhenka Irontooth has stated that she built this property into the design intentionally, though she has not explained how.
