The Orb of Resonance served as the primary diplomatic communication device during the negotiation of the Crystal Pact with the Elves, allowing Gnome and Elven delegates to confer in real time across hundreds of leagues. Elven ambassadors reportedly grew unsettled by its lie-detection property, leading to a secret codicil in the Pact forbidding its use during future treaty talks. It was later stolen by an unregistered Chronomancer and recovered, partly disassembled, from a black-market workshop in a Human border town, its outermost resonance rune cracked but its core intact.
