The Nereid's Foam Crown

A ceremonial crown woven from petrified sea-foam, strands of living coral, and threads of enchanted ocean glass, its form resembling a breaking wave frozen in the moment of its crest. It carries a faint luminescence and an ever-present scent of deep ocean water, and its coral branches are said to slowly grow and shift over decades as if still alive in the sea.

History

Worn only during the most sacred ceremonies of the Court of the Tidemark and at the inauguration of new heads of state, the Crown has rested upon the brows of countless Islanders across the full span of recorded history. Elder Mahina of Pearlhaven was reportedly the last person to wear it outside a formal ceremony, placing it upon her own head during the Storm of Tenfold Darkening to call upon Nereid protection for the fleet. It remains housed in the Temple of the Tides, where the etched high-water mark on the temple walls is believed to date to the era of the Ocean's Children, the same era from which the Crown itself descends.
