The Coral Chronicle
Not a book in any surface-world sense, the Coral Chronicle is a living slab of carefully cultivated reef coral the size of a writing desk, mounted in the Pearl Court's underwater library on a cradle of woven sea-kelp. Its surface is an impossibly dense tapestry of branching growth patterns and bioluminescent algae arrangements that pulse gently in shifting colors, each hue encoding a different category of knowledge, each branch a different century of accumulated record.

Overview
The Coral Chronicle is a rare tome in Landorya. Its known origin is The Coral Chronicle was seeded by the first Tide-Readers of the Pearl Court in an age the Nereids deliberately leave undated, shaped from a coral polyp colony believed to have been blessed at the moment of Nereid creation by the Celestials themselves. Successive Tide-Readers have tended and expanded it with the same devotion others might accord a living elder.. Its most cited abilities include Encodes and preserves historical, ecological, and diplomatic knowledge in coral growth patterns legible to trained Tide-Readers, Bioluminescent algae arrangements emit specific harmonic frequencies, allowing knowledge to be 'heard' as well as read by Nereid senses, and Actively grows to incorporate new records, making the archive self-expanding and self-organizing. Accounts also warn of a drawback: Non-Nereids who touch the Chronicle without preparation suffer an overwhelming sensory flood, centuries of harmonic data transmitted simultaneously through ski…
History
The Chronicle is the primary reason Nereid oral tradition achieves the extraordinary fidelity it does, Tide-Readers cross-reference their memorized song-cycles against its patterns to catch and correct generational drift. It has survived at least two catastrophic seismic events that collapsed surrounding grottos, apparently sustaining itself through its own magical field. Drakonian spies have reportedly attempted to access or destroy it on more than one occasion; the Pearl Court considers its protection a matter of existential priority.
Powers & Abilities

- ✦ Bioluminescent algae arrangements emit specific harmonic frequencies, allowing knowledge to be 'heard' as well as read by Nereid senses
- ✦ Actively grows to incorporate new records, making the archive self-expanding and self-organizing
- ✦ Radiates a stabilizing water-magic field that preserves the surrounding library structure against pressure damage and time
Curse or Drawback
Non-Nereids who touch the Chronicle without preparation suffer an overwhelming sensory flood, centuries of harmonic data transmitted simultaneously through skin contact, which invariably renders them catatonic for days and in several documented cases has caused permanent psychological fragmentation.
