Storm-Shield
The Storm-Shield is the iconic defensive implement of the veteran Orcish warrior class, both a functional battlefield tool and the emblem of the Storm-Shield military rank that marks a warrior as a proven squad leader. Each shield is a large pavise of iron-reinforced basalt-composite, its face inscribed with storm-glyph runes that interact with ambient electrical charge to harmlessly dissipate lightning-based attacks across the shield's surface rather than concentrating them on the bearer. The shield's interior arm-brace is fitted with a Stone-Echo resonator — a small basalt disc tuned to the low frequencies of the Stone-Echo Drum — that allows Storm-Shields to use their shields as communication devices in battle, tapping coded rhythms that carry through stone-paved ground to adjacent shield-bearers even when voice commands are impossible in the noise of siege-engine combat. The face of each Storm-Shield bears the Iron Wall device of its bearer's company, applied after the warrior's first defense of a fortified position.

Overview
Storm-Shield is a uncommon armor in Landorya. Its known origin is Storm-Shields are crafted at the Ministry of Warcraft's armory in Kragthar Hold, with the storm-glyph inscription performed by Storm-Orc shamans who must complete the shield's runic charging during an actual thunderstorm. This requirement limits production to the Storm-Season months, creating a natural production cycle that the Ministry has never been able to fully decouple from weather dependency despite several experimental attempts.. Its most cited abilities include Storm-glyph runes dissipate lightning and electrical attacks across the shield's surface without concentrating on the bearer, Stone-Echo resonator transmits tactical drum-codes through ground contact to adjacent shield-bearers, and Iron-reinforced basalt-composite resists both physical impacts and minor Arcane Overload effects.
History
The Storm-Shield design was developed by War-Seer Korga, who also devised the Iron Wall defensive formation and the Runic Volley tactic. Korga recognized that Orcish forces operating near their own Storm-Capture Towers were vulnerable to enemy tactics that triggered deliberate lightning redirection, and designed the shield specifically to counter this threat. The Stone-Echo resonator communication system was added later by a Stone-Keeper apprentice who observed that standard drum communication broke down in enclosed siege environments and proposed using the shield itself as a transmission medium.
