Prophecy-Crystals were among the most sought-after exports of the Order of the Starlight, traded to all four allied Ancient Five civilizations in exchange for raw materials the high Astral Plateau could not produce. Talamhari geomancers used them to predict geological instability in their mine networks; Zephyrian sky-navigators relied on them to anticipate storm systems beyond the visible horizon; Pyrakian battle-seers carried them into major engagements to read the probability of enemy maneuvers; Ocearan tidal-calculators integrated Prophecy-Crystal readings with their own hydrodynamic models for unprecedented forecast accuracy. After the Order's retreat behind the Great Veil during the Dark Times, crystal production continued internally but exports ceased. A handful of pre-Veil specimens survive in Mystaran vaults, including three sealed examples in the Conclave of the Wise's archive, and several fragments recovered from Talamhari ruins. More dangerously, a crystal cracked mid-reading collapses its probability strands inward, projecting the full weight of every encoded possibility simultaneously upon the reader, an experience recorded as overwhelming and potentially lethal to unprepared minds.
