Greenspeaker-Grown Bows
Also known as: Living Bows, Grown Bows, Eld'sylari Bows
Greenspeaker-Grown Bows are the supreme ranged weapons of the Eldris Forest, produced through a decades-long process of Greenspeaking in which a master practitioner coaxes living wood into its final bow form through sustained magical communion and song rather than any act of cutting or carving. The wood is never separated from its living state during this process; the final bow retains the vital essence of the tree from which it was grown and responds to its assigned archer's intent with a sensitivity no carved weapon can replicate. They are among the most precise and deadly weapons in all of Landorya.

History
Greenspeaker-Grown Bows are the primary weapon of the Sylvan Rangers and the most coveted trade good the Sylvan Elves offer to the outside world. Each bow takes between thirty and fifty years to grow to readiness, meaning a master Greenspeaker might produce only a handful across their entire career. The bows in current Ranger service represent the work of practitioners extending back several generations, each bow's history known and documented in the Hall of Memories.
Powers & Abilities
- ✦ Living wood retains magical responsiveness, subtly adjusting draw tension and aim point to match the archer's intent in real time
- ✦ Arrows loosed from a Grown Bow travel with unusual stability and penetrating force beyond what the bow's physical draw weight should produce
- ✦ The bow resists damage from weather and physical impact more effectively than ordinary wood, self-repairing minor damage if given access to water and maintained through occasional Greenspeaking attunement
- ✦ A skilled archer bonded to their bow can sense the bow's state — its readiness, any damage, even proximity to strong magical fields — as a physical intuition
Curse or Drawback
A Greenspeaker-Grown Bow will not function for any archer other than the one it was grown for. In the hands of a different user, the bow feels inert and the arrows fly without the magical responsiveness that makes it exceptional. Misuse by an unassigned archer — attempting to force the weapon to perform — is said by Greenspeakers to cause the wood to contract in a way that can crack or split the bow irreparably.
