Tharok’s War Hammer
Also known as: Ironfist’s Hammer
A colossal war hammer of blackened iron and star-tempered steel, its head etched with the interlocking rune-chains of the Dwarven Iron Mountains and its haft wrapped in the cured hide of a mountain drake, the very weapon by which Tharok Ironfist, greatest warlord of the Dwarven clans, split the Gate of Ashvorn asunder during the Siege of the Sunken Holds. Where it strikes stone, the earth remembers the blow; where it strikes steel, the metal weeps and splinters as though it were mere chalk.

- Tharok's War Hammer was forged deep beneath the Iron Mountains by the master smith Grunda Coalheart of the Dwarven clans, who spent seven years smelting ore drawn from the Ashvorn Vein, a seam of star-iron said to have fallen from the Celestial Order's own vault above. Grunda bound Pyrakian forge-spirits into the molten core at the behest of Tharok Ironfist himself, who demanded a weapon that could humble mountains and remind every enemy of the Dwarves that the earth itself fought on their side.

Accounts also warn of a drawback: The hammer carries the unquiet pride of Tharok Ironfist: any non-Dwarven wielder who claims it as their own, rather than merely borrowing its strength, begins…
History
Tharok Ironfist first raised the hammer at the Siege of the Sunken Holds, where a coalition of Orc warlords and rogue Talamhari earth-shapers had sealed the lower Dwarven warrens behind an enchanted iron gate, a single blow from the hammer reduced the gate and thirty feet of surrounding wall to gravel, turning the tide of a war that had ground on for a decade. After Tharok's death atop the Greymantled Pass, the hammer was interred beside him in the Vault of Ironfists, a sealed burial crypt carved into the deepest roots of the Iron Mountains, guarded by rune-bound stone sentinels of Dwarven craft. Centuries later, agents of the Desert Scholars are said to have bribed a disgraced clan-keeper for the vault's location, seeking to study the Pyrakian fire-spirits trapped within its core, whether they succeeded remains a matter of fierce and bloody dispute between the Scholar-Houses and the Dwarven High Council. The hammer's current whereabouts are unknown; some Dwarven loremasters insist it still rests sealed in the vault, while others whisper that it has surfaced in the war-markets of the Shimmering Isles, traded by hands that do not understand what fury they carry.

Curse or Drawback
The hammer carries the unquiet pride of Tharok Ironfist: any non-Dwarven wielder who claims it as their own, rather than merely borrowing its strength, begins to hear Tharok's voice in moments of stillness, a low, grinding whisper that grows louder with each battle until it drowns out the wielder's own thoughts. Over months, the afflicted begin to mistake their own memories for Tharok's, forgetting their name, their kin, and their allegiances, until nothing remains of the original self but a vessel for a dead warlord's rage.
