The Tidecaller Leviathan is an immense eel-like creature whose translucent, bioluminescent body stretches to lengths that make it impossible to see both head and tail simultaneously in the confined grottos it inhabits, its flesh cycling through cold blues and greens with each wave of internal water-elemental energy. Its head is dominated by a fan of long, ribbon-like sensory tendrils that trail behind it like a bridal veil, each tipped with a glowing node that pulses in sync with tidal rhythms.

Tidecaller Leviathans are deeply ancient in temperament, unhurried, contemplative, and largely indifferent to creatures they do not perceive as elemental threats. They communicate in rhythmic bioluminescent pulses that Water Elemental scholars have spent centuries attempting to fully decode.

It is said that every Tidecaller Leviathan is born at the moment a new underground sea forms in the Deep Earth, making each one a living record of the world's geological history. Coastal surface civilizations of Landorya have long reported inexplicable tidal anomalies, sudden reversals, glowing underwater currents, whirlpools in landlocked seas, which Elemental scholars attribute to Leviathans stirring in the Tidal Grottos far below. The Water Realm's most sacred ritual, the Confluence Tide, requires a Leviathan to be present as a living conduit, and the creatures are said to attend willingly, surfacing in the grottos' ceremonial pools without summons. One Leviathan, known as the First Grotto's Memory, is believed to predate the formation of the Tidal Grottos themselves, and its age is invoked at the Great Conclave of Elements as proof of Water's primacy among the five elements.

In the Elemental Kingdoms of the Deep Earth, the Tidecaller Leviathan is venerated by Water Elementals as both a living tide-regulator and a spiritual intermediary, believed to carry the 'voice' of the Water Realm across the Tidal Grottos.
