The Lumen-Moth is a large, gossamer-winged insect whose translucent wings are mapped with bioluminescent patterns that mirror the constellations of the night sky, shifting subtly as the stars above move. Its body glows with a soft, warm radiance, silver-white at rest, flushing gold or deep violet in response to the emotional state of those nearby.

Lumen-Moths are gentle and unhurried, drawn instinctively toward calm minds and places of strong starlight. They are not easily startled, but will swarm silently and darken their glow when danger or psychic wrongness permeates the air.

Ancient texts record that entire swarms of Lumen-Moths went dark simultaneously on the eve of the Order of the Starlight's fall, an omen interpreted too late. The Mystarans of Mystara still keep moth-lanterns as ceremonial objects, woven replicas of the living creatures, lit during the Feast of the Unveiled Sky.
