Chrono-Lock of the Grand Assembly

A towering brass-and-crystal mechanism standing nearly a metre tall, its interlocking gear-rings spinning in perfect silence around a pulsing core of Aetherite-Alloy. Engraved with the seal of the Grand Assembly, it radiates a faint amber light that causes nearby clocks to stutter and chime out of sequence.

History

The device was first activated during the Siege of Gearhaven, freezing an advancing mercenary vanguard for fifty-eight seconds, just long enough for Guardian Automatons to redeploy along the city's outer gear-walls. It now rests in the Ministry of Arcane-Tech's vault, brought out only for existential emergencies ratified by full Assembly vote.
