Magic Profile
- Nature
- Astromancy is the high art of reading, interpreting, and ultimately channeling the patterned energies of the stars, planets, and constellations to produce magical effects and prophetic insight. It feels less like casting a spell and more like aligning one's will with a vast, slow-moving cosmic mechanism, patient, precise, and humbling in scale.

Limitations
Astromancy is heavily time-dependent: certain spells can only be cast when specific constellations are visible or when celestial conjunctions occur, making it nearly useless during overcast seasons or in the southern latitudes where key star-patterns never rise. It is also inherently slow, even a minor working requires careful chart-reading and alignment ritual.
Common Applications
- ✦ Starfall Invocation, calls down focused motes of stellar light that strike with piercing radiant force
- ✦ The Watcher's Chart, a ritual that projects a living star-map revealing future confluences of power or danger
- ✦ Constellation Lock, freezes a target in place by binding them within a cage of projected stellar lines
- ✦ Astral Concordance, synchronizes the minds of multiple casters across vast distances using a shared star as a beacon
- ✦ Eclipse Seal, a powerful warding ritual performed only during a lunar eclipse that locks a location against magical intrusion for a full stellar cycle
Cultural Significance
Astromancy is the most prestigious of the Aeriel magical arts, directly tied to their sacred charge as Landorya's celestial custodians; the Aether Council's authority to govern is legitimized in part by its mastery of astromantic interpretation. The Aeriels' famed celestial maps, a key export, are themselves minor astromantic artifacts, encoding predictive star-data that ground-dwelling navigators and mages prize enormously.
Lore
The Aeriels teach that astromancy was not invented but remembered: when the Celestials assigned the Aeriel race as Watchers of the Stars, they encoded the principles of stellar magic directly into Aeriel memory as a kind of dormant inheritance, which the first Caelari elders unlocked simply by spending centuries observing the sky with perfect attention. The most revered astromantic text, the Codex of Ascending Lights, is said to have been written simultaneously by seven Star-Readers who each independently transcribed the same vision on the same night, a conjunction of all five of Landorya's visible planets. It was this document that established the Aether Council's mandate to intervene in world affairs when stellar patterns warn of cosmic imbalance. During the darkest chapter of Aeriel history, an astromancer named Cassiveth the Unmoored attempted to use a forbidden deep-reading to foresee the end of Caelum itself and was lost to stellar blindness, wandering the floating islands for a century muttering star-names before finally ascending, the Aeriels say, into the sky he had stared into too long.
