Magic Profile
- Nature
- Moon-Tide Divination is the oracular discipline of the Fey Court, a magic of reading the threads of time, possibility, and fate as they ebb and flow like a luminous tide under moonlight. It does not predict the future so much as illuminate the shape of probability, the seer perceives futures as overlapping reflections in moon-bright water, beautiful and shifting, never perfectly still.

Key Aspects
0
Reflection-reading: interpreting futures in still, moonlit water or crystal surfaces
1
Thread-tracing: following a single individual's probability threads across time
2
Tide-listening: perceiving the broad emotional and political currents of an era
3
Veil-of-Memory: recovering lost or obscured past events through residual temporal echoes
4
Convergence-marking: identifying moments where multiple futures collapse into a single inevitable point
Practitioners
0
Moon-readers of the crystalline cavern courts, the Court's primary oracular order
1
River-seers who practice divination along the moon-lit waterways of hidden realms
2
Twilight Arbiters who use divination to anticipate Covenant breaches before they occur
3
Ancient Fey soothsayers consulted by mortal kings and lords across Landorya
Limitations
Moon-Tide Divination shows possibilities weighted by probability, never certainties, the further ahead a seer looks, the more the reflections multiply and blur, and attempting to read more than a generation forward has historically driven practitioners into a dissociative state the Fey call the Tide-Lost, in which past, present and future become indistinguishable.
Common Applications
- ✦ The Moon-Pool Opening, a ritual that transforms any still water under moonlight into a divination lens
- ✦ Thread of the Fated Step, traces a single individual's most probable path across the coming season
- ✦ Echo of What Was, recovers the residual temporal impression of a past event from a location
- ✦ The Convergence Sight, identifies a moment of fate where all threads collapse to one outcome
- ✦ Tide-Veil, obscures a person or event from other diviners, rendering their threads unreadable
Cultural Significance
Moon-Tide Divination is the Fey Court's primary diplomatic instrument, Court seers are consulted at every major negotiation with mortal powers, and their readings of probable futures carry quasi-legal weight within the Twilight Covenant; a Convergence-mark issued by a recognised moon-reader can compel the entire confederation to act in preparation. Among mortals across Landorya, Fey moon-readers are simultaneously revered and feared, their prophecies sought for generations and their obscure phrasing debated by scholars long after the events have passed.
Lore
The most catastrophic episode in the history of Moon-Tide Divination is remembered as the Night of Fractured Reflections, when the greatest moon-reader in the Court's history attempted to read a Convergence-point she had identified at the furthest edge of legible time. The working shattered every crystal lens in the Court's cavern-temples simultaneously, and the seer herself became the first recorded case of the Tide-Lost, still alive today, wandering the hidden realms, speaking in the voices of people not yet born. The Fey Court of the Eternal Twilight thereafter instituted the Veil-Accords, an internal law restricting divination to no more than fifty years forward without the unanimous approval of all Court-Circle lords, a restriction that has been tested, and occasionally broken, in every century since.
