Key Aspects
0
Terramolding, reshaping stone walls, floors and tunnels with bare hands
1
Tectonic Pulse, triggering controlled tremors to collapse or reinforce structures
2
Vein-Reading, sensing mineral deposits, aquifers and structural weaknesses through touch
3
Crystal Resonance, awakening and directing stored energy within Earth-Pulse Crystals
4
Stone-Warding, imbuing rock surfaces with defensive elemental intent
Practitioners
0
Licensed Geomancers of the Stone Council, the regulatory masters of the discipline
1
Vein-Seekers, miner-adepts who use geomantic sense to navigate and excavate
2
Deep-Wardens, military geomancers who maintain and weaponise the Runic Defense Walls
3
Stone-Scribes, scholars who document tectonic patterns and safe manipulation thresholds
Limitations
Geomancy is bound entirely to the presence of stone and living earth; a geomancer severed from the ground, exiled to barren soil or suspended in open air, loses all access to the discipline. Tectonic manipulation is the most dangerous and most heavily regulated branch: every practitioner must hold a license issued by the Stone Council, and unsanctioned use carries the sentence of Stone-Banishment.
Common Applications
- ✦ Gara's Embrace, the earth rises and encases a target in a shell of living stone
- ✦ Pulse of the Deep, a focused tectonic tremor that shatters enemy fortifications from below
- ✦ Vein-Sight, a trance that lets the caster perceive all stone and ore within a wide radius as a glowing map
- ✦ The Granite Tide, a slow wave of flowing stone that swallows an entire corridor or battlefield
- ✦ Stone-Breath, the practitioner draws tectonic energy upward to heal cracks in structures or mend broken bone
Cultural Significance
Geomancy is not merely a tool but the spiritual backbone of Talamhari civilisation, to shape stone is to honour Gara-Stone and to participate in the ongoing act of creation she began. Its influence endures in the Frostborn clans of the North-West and the Dwarven Holds of the Iron Peaks, both of whom preserve diluted geomantic traditions inherited from the Talamhari.
Lore
Borgang the Dark Times, an era of surface catastrophe whose nature the Granite Codex records only in elliptical warnings, the Talamhari survived by retreating ever deeper underground, using Geomancy to hollow out new sanctuary chambers faster than the darkness above could follow. It was in this desperate exodus that the Stone Council was formally founded, born from the need to prevent panicked geomancers from triggering collapses in their haste. The Codex preserves the edict of the First Council in stone-etched script: 'The mountain endures because it does not hurry, neither shall those who speak its language.' To this day the Talamhari regard reckless geomantic haste as the gravest of professional sins.
