The dying Sky-Scout who gave it to him had been carrying encoded Resonance data within the bone — a complete map of Void-Rift locations across the northern wastelands, including three rifts that are not in any official registry. Kael discovered the data accidentally when playing a specific harmonic sequence, and the map projected itself in shimmering air-glyphs. He does not understand the full significance of what he has, but he knows enough to be frightened — and he has noticed that certain individuals have been following him from settlement to settlement.. His two parent-contributors were atmospheric current monitors of modest standing, and Kael showed little aptitude for technical work. Instead, he discovered a prodigious talent for Gale-Whisper music and oral storytelling -- a combination that made him a natural entertainer but an outsider in the craft-oriented Air Kingdom. He left Zephyr's Reach at age sixty and has spent over a century travelling between Confluence Villages, Bound Settlements, and even mortal cities, performing for anyone who will listen.
