Miles Mapmaker spent his childhood trailing his surveyor father across every province of the empire, learning to read terrain before he could write. At the Arcane Academy of Gleamspire he studied magical cartography, developing a technique for embedding ley-line data into parchment so maps pulse faintly near power nexuses. His Royal Cartographer appointment followed his mapping of the previously uncharted Serpent Straits — a commission that took three years and nearly cost him his life twice. He now heads the Survey Hall in El'goroth, surrounded by walls covered in draft maps and muttering navigational calculations under his breath at all hours.
