Story
LORD ALDRIC VORNHEIM
Jeder trug seine Last. Jeder seine Geheimnisse. Jeder seine ungeschriebene Geschichte.
Und LORD? LORD ging weiter.

Backstory
Aldric Vornheim has served four successive rulers of Azaria — outlasting two and surviving the assassination of a third, the event that left the scar on his temple and a permanent wariness behind his eyes. Born to one of the empire's oldest noble houses, he sacrificed a career in arcane scholarship to enter the Empress's service at thirty, and has spent thirty years becoming indispensable. He is the empire's institutional memory: every minister appointment, every treaty clause, every compromise that held the empire together passes through his hands. He does not seek power — he is the architecture that holds it up.
Daily Life
Rises before dawn to review intelligence reports from across the Empire. Spends mornings in council with the Empress, afternoons managing the endless flow of petitions and decrees, and evenings hosting diplomatic dinners where more is accomplished in whispered asides than in official proceedings.
Secret
Vornheim knows who ordered the assassination of the previous Emperor — and it was not a foreign power. The perpetrator now holds a senior council seat and has been useful enough to the empire's stability that Vornheim has, for three years, calculated that exposing them would cause more damage than maintaining the silence. He is no longer certain the calculation still holds, particularly now that a young Crown Prince is asking questions no one prepared him to ask.
Story Hooks
- 1 He needs discreet agents to retrieve a document that could destabilize the succession
- 2 His granddaughter has been kidnapped by a rival seeking to manipulate him
Narrative Value
Vornheim is the empire's conscience and its most dangerous secret-keeper — a figure whose loyalty to the institution overrides his loyalty to any individual, including the dead. He is the natural first contact for players navigating Azarian politics and the gatekeeper to the truth behind the previous Emperor's death.
