Fluvius was apprenticed to the Guild of Current Weavers at one hundred years of age, showing genuine talent for rune-navigation before a rival sabotaged his Craft-Flow Trial to claim the senior posting Fluvius would have earned. Expelled and blacklisted, he turned the skills he had acquired — reading hidden channels, mapping the Ripple Net's blind spots — to private use. His first smuggling run was modest: restricted Lumen-Crystals moved from the Underglow Bazaar to buyers outside Aqua-Consortium oversight. He lost the index finger on his left hand to a trap laid by a competing runner he had undercut. By age one hundred and forty he had assembled a reliable network of corrupt Current Weaver contacts and was moving contraband the Aqua Guard officially declared impossible to transport undetected.
