Backstory
Mistral's origins are genuinely uncertain, even to them. The oldest water-memory they can access shows a child emerging alone from the thickest fog of the Mist Marshes with no Spring Circle to claim them. An Echo Sage who found them young speculated that Mistral's elemental affinity for mist — the transitional state between water and vapor — had somehow manifested before their First Merge, an anomaly the Archives of the Deep have no parallel for. Unwilling to fit into any guild structure, Mistral learned to collect and sell information instead, using their near-invisible mist-form to move unseen through negotiations, bathhouses, and council chambers. They now maintain a web of contacts across several river-states, trusted by clients who believe that what they tell Mistral dissolves as harmlessly as fog — which is not always true.
