Orphaned when a flash flood destroyed the caravan carrying Maren Peacebringer's family, Maren was raised collectively by the confederation's foster tradition and grew up belonging to everyone and no one in particular. The name Peacebringer was earned before adulthood, when Maren settled a long-standing grazing dispute between two rival subtribes through patient, unflinching negotiation. The sharp tongue and plains metaphors carry the weight of someone who learned early that words, aimed carefully, accomplish what force cannot.
