Elemental Attunement Bands
Also known as: Attunement Bands, Elemental Bands, Codex Bands, Mortal Monitors
Elemental Attunement Bands are the standard monitoring and regulation devices worn by all mortal visitors and residents of the Bound Settlements throughout the five Elemental Kingdoms, simple-looking bands of treated composite crystal fitted around the wrist that continuously measure the wearer's elemental energy output and regulate any inadvertent magical impact on their elemental host environment. They are manufactured in significant quantities by each kingdom's production facilities to standardized specifications set by the Elemental Codex, and their design is calibrated to the specific elemental environment of the kingdom in which they are to be used: Earth Kingdom Bands are reinforced against geological energy feedback, Water Kingdom Bands include pressure-regulation enchantments, Fire Kingdom Bands incorporate heat-dissipation channels, Air Kingdom Bands feature current-stabilization fields, and Aether Kingdom Bands are tuned to prevent mortal minds from being overwhelmed by ambient aetheric energy. Required for access to Nexus Sanctuaries, they are the single most widely produced artifact in the Elemental Kingdoms.

Overview
Elemental Attunement Bands is a common talisman in Landorya. Its known origin is Elemental Attunement Bands were mandated by the original Elemental Codex, the governing document produced by the Council of Confluence at the Great Convergence, which recognized that mortal populations living adjacent to pure elemental environments required both protection and monitoring to prevent ecological disruption. It is currently associated with Worn by all mortal residents and visitors in Bound Settlements throughout the five kingdoms — mandatory for access to Nexus Sanctuaries. Its most cited abilities include Continuous monitoring of the wearer's elemental energy output and ambient elemental intake, Automatic regulation of any inadvertent magical discharge that could disrupt local ley-line balance, and Environmental protection appropriate to the host kingdom: heat resistance, pressure regulation, current stabilization, aetheric cognitive buffering, or geological feedback dampening depending on variant. History
Elemental Attunement Bands have been in continuous production and use since the Great Convergence, making them the longest-lived manufactured artifact class in the Elemental Kingdoms. Their design has been revised seventeen times to incorporate new understanding of mortal-elemental interaction, elemental environment variation, and emerging Rift-Crawler monitoring requirements added after the Aetheric Schism. The most recent revision added Void-proximity awareness to all Band variants, producing a distinctive vibration alert when the wearer approaches a known or suspected Void-Rift site.
Powers & Abilities
- ✦ Continuous monitoring of the wearer's elemental energy output and ambient elemental intake
- ✦ Automatic regulation of any inadvertent magical discharge that could disrupt local ley-line balance
- ✦ Environmental protection appropriate to the host kingdom: heat resistance, pressure regulation, current stabilization, aetheric cognitive buffering, or geological feedback dampening depending on variant
- ✦ Identity registration in the host kingdom's Resonance Credits ledger, enabling economic participation by mortal Bound Settlement residents
- ✦ Emergency alert transmission to the nearest Equilibrium Guard post if the wearer's elemental exposure exceeds safe parameters
Curse or Drawback
Elemental Attunement Bands are not designed to have curses, but the Elemental Codex's enforcement mechanism within them is experienced by some mortal wearers as uncomfortable: the Band's regulation function suppresses the wearer's own latent elemental capacity, keeping it within safe parameters for the host environment. Mortals with significant latent elemental ability — unusual but not unknown — find this suppression deeply unpleasant, as if part of themselves has been temporarily muted. The Equilibrium Guard regards this as an acceptable trade-off for environmental safety.
