Veil-Silk Armor
Also known as: The Living Cloak, Shadow-Weave Armor, Glimmerguard Silk
Veil-Silk Armor is living fabric woven on Moss-Woven Looms from Dusk-Weaver thread and Star-Thread that alters color, texture, and reflectivity on command and can render the wearer wholly invisible by harmonizing the armor's Veil-energy signature with the ambient magical background of any environment. It is the premier protective equipment of the Glimmerguard's Veil-Rangers and senior diplomatic escorts of the Fey Court of the Eternal Twilight.

Overview
Veil-Silk Armor is a rare armor in Landorya. Its known origin is Veil-Silk Armor was developed as a practical application of the Moss-Woven Loom technology originally created for decorative and domestic fabrics. The innovation of incorporating Star-Thread into structural armor-weight fabric was attributed to a Glimmerguard commander during the Veil-War of 842 YR who requisitioned experimental Star-Thread-reinforced cloaks for Veil-Rangers entering the Silver-Mist Marshes and found that the wearers were significantly harder for enemy forces to locate and target.. It is currently associated with Glimmerguard Veil-Rangers, senior diplomatic escorts, and members of the Twilight Council (multiple suits exist). Its most cited abilities include Chromatic Command: changes color, pattern, and texture across the full visible spectrum instantaneously upon the wearer's mental instruction, True Invisibility: when commanded, aligns its Veil-energy signature with local ambient magic to render the wearer and their carried equipment completely undetectable by sight or magical sensing, and Impact Absorption: the living fabric redistributes kinetic force across its full surface area, providing protection significantly beyond what its apparent delicacy suggests. Accounts also warn of a drawback: Veil-Silk Armor that has been worn by a single individual for more than a decade develops a strong attunement to that wearer that makes it effectively non-func…
History
Following the Veil-War, Veil-Silk Armor production was formalized as a priority output of the Fey Court's textile artisans, with dedicated Star-Moth Rookery harvesting schedules established to ensure sufficient Star-Thread supply. The armor has since been provided as a diplomatic gift on three occasions to allied races, each gift generating significant intelligence interest from non-allied powers who have never succeeded in replicating its properties outside the Fey realm where the living fabric begins to lose function within months.
Powers & Abilities
- ✦ Chromatic Command: changes color, pattern, and texture across the full visible spectrum instantaneously upon the wearer's mental instruction
- ✦ True Invisibility: when commanded, aligns its Veil-energy signature with local ambient magic to render the wearer and their carried equipment completely undetectable by sight or magical sensing
- ✦ Impact Absorption: the living fabric redistributes kinetic force across its full surface area, providing protection significantly beyond what its apparent delicacy suggests
- ✦ Self-Repair: minor damage to the weave is repaired within hours by the fabric's living structure, consuming ambient Veil-energy as fuel for the process
- ✦ Attunement Bonus: over time the armor memorizes the wearer's magical signature and can shift without explicit command to match environments the wearer enters, anticipating concealment needs
Curse or Drawback
Veil-Silk Armor that has been worn by a single individual for more than a decade develops a strong attunement to that wearer that makes it effectively non-functional for any other. The armor in such cases does not recognize a new wearer's commands and may shift to configurations actively unhelpful to the new owner while awaiting its bonded wearer's return. This property has made inheritance of Veil-Silk Armor nearly impossible and strengthens the argument for individual commission of new armor rather than transfer.
