The marshes occupy a broad lowland depression within the hidden realm, fed by the ancient Silver Wellspring at their center. Pools of varying depth are separated by reedy islands and slick peat-bridges that the Mist-Fey reshape seasonally. Paths through the marsh are not marked but are known by scent and bioluminescent pattern to those native to it, making the region functionally impassable to outsiders without a guide.

A cool, damp air mass sits permanently over the marshes, thick with silver fog that never fully disperses. Precipitation falls as a fine mist rather than rain, coating every surface with a faint iridescent sheen. Sound carries strangely here, muffled at short distances but audible in fragments from far away, an acoustic property the Mist-Fey exploit in their Chrono-Mist rituals.

The marshes predate the Twilight Covenant and were already inhabited by proto-Mist-Fey during the Age of Solitary Spirits. The region was formally incorporated into the Court when the Mist-Fey Circle joined the Covenant, contributing their mastery of Chrono-Mist theory in exchange for collective protection. The Veil-War of 842 YR saw the marshes serve as a crucial defensive buffer: Mist-Wardens channeled the resident fog into impenetrable walls that turned an entire Drakonian column back at the marsh's edge.

Mist-Fey elders claim that on the night of maximum fog during the Shadow-Wane Gleam, the marshes reveal a path that leads not to another part of the realm but to a moment in the past, a residue of the Chrono-Mist that suffuses the area. Those who follow it return with memories of events no living being should carry. The Court has never officially confirmed or denied this account.

Daily life in the Silver-Mist Marshes revolves around the rhythms of bioluminescence: the pools brighten and dim on a cycle the Mist-Fey read as both clock and calendar. Fishers harvest luminescent marsh-eels at peak glow, weavers gather silver reed-fiber at ebb, and scholars record the pulse-frequencies of pools for Chrono-Mist calibration research. Chorus Frogs provide an ambient harmonic backdrop that Fey musicians study formally, and Mist-Fox familiars are raised here from birth, bonded to Glimmerguard Veil-Rangers in ceremonies conducted at the water's edge.
