Aurora Talismans

Aurora Talismans are pendants of ice gem carved and faceted to capture and amplify the shifting colors of the northern lights, then enchanted by Frostborn shamans through invocation of Aurelia, Lady of the Northern Lights. Each Talisman holds a preserved fragment of aurora-light sealed within its ice gem core through a ritual conducted at the Aurora Spire during the Long Dark, when the northern lights are at their most active and brilliant. The enchanted gems glow faintly with shifting color — the same pale greens, violets, and rose-golds of the aurora — and this inner light is both beautiful and functional: the Talisman is said to protect travelers from the disorienting effects of the Wandering Mists and to provide a measure of Aurelia's navigational guidance in featureless white-out conditions.

- Aurora Talismans were first created by the shamans of the Whitepeak Clan, whose sky-watching traditions put them closest to Aurelia's sphere of influence. The original ritual was developed by a shaman named Solvara Lightkeeper, who discovered during a solitary aurora-watching vigil at the ridge that would later hold the Aurora Spire that ice gems held at the right angle in aurora light absorbed something of its quality. History
Aurora Talismans have become one of the most widely distributed Frostborn magical artifacts, given as gifts at bonding ceremonies, carried by hunters venturing into dangerous territory, and offered to honored guests as tokens of goodwill under the Hearthshare tradition. A small number have been gifted to trusted allies outside the Frostborn — the Dwarves of the Ironspine Mountains and certain Eldorian diplomats — making them recognizable tokens of Frostborn friendship in parts of Landorya far from the northern wastes.
