Crowned Volcano

Also known as: Seal of the Flame-Council, Archon's Great Seal

The grand official seal of the Pyrakian Flame-Council, the Crowned Volcano is a disc of polished obsidian the size of a spread hand, carved in deep relief with the image of a volcanic peak encircled by a ring of five interlocking flame-tongues representing the five Pyro-Archons. At the caldera's apex, a small inlaid fire-ruby catches and concentrates any nearby flame into a focused point of light, causing the seal's face to glow with an eerie inner radiance when held near a torch or lava-crystal lantern. The reverse bears the full text of the Balance Charter's opening decree in Ember-Glyphs.

History

During the height of Pyrakian civilization the Crowned Volcano seal was kept in the Eternal Ember chamber of Ignis Aeterna under continuous Cinder-Watch guard, brought out only for the signing of inter-city compacts, the announcement of Scorch-Exile judgments, and the formal coronation of new Pyro-Archons. When Ignis Aeterna fell, the seal was carried by the last recorded Grand Archon along the Magma-Caravan route toward Talamhari; it then passed through several hands over centuries before the Drakonian Obsidian Order secured it for the Obsidian Citadel's relic vault, where it remains the most politically significant artifact of Pyrakian origin in the modern world.
