History
The Hourglass has rested at the heart of the Grand Library of the Sun-Scarred Peaks for as long as Sphinx records exist, used to adjudicate historical disputes by replaying the past before assembled Riddle-Mages. During a period of conflict with raiding Human Lowland factions, it was allegedly used to expose a false treaty by revealing the true words spoken at its signing. It has never left the Peaks, and the Riddle Covenant has inscribed its protection into the foundational laws of Sphinx society.
