The Gale Cartographer's Compass
A disc of burnished Storm-Glass no larger than an open palm, etched with impossibly fine wind-current lines that shift and redraw themselves in real time to reflect living atmospheric conditions. At its center spins a needle of lightweight storm-alloy, the same material as the Gale Coins, that always aligns with the dominant prevailing wind rather than magnetic north.

History
These compasses were issued to senior Gale-Cartographers who maintained the Sky-Caravan Paths linking Zephyrian trade routes to Talamhari tunnels and Ocearan riverways. One famous instrument, known as the 'Firstborn Compass', is credited with charting the original network of Wind-Portals still in partial use today. Many were lost when the Sky-Caravan Paths fell into disrepair, and surviving examples are prized by Aeriel navigators and outside scholars alike.
