The Stormhawk is a massive bird of prey standing four feet tall at the shoulder, its plumage a turbulent mixture of charcoal grey and electric white streaked with veins of crackling pale blue, markings that eerily mimic lightning across a storm front. Its hooked beak is jet-black and reinforced with a keratin density hard enough to pierce light armor, and its eyes burn with an amber intensity that can be seen from a great distance.

Ferociously territorial and deeply intelligent, Stormhawks will circle a perceived threat for extended periods before striking with sudden, overwhelming speed. They are capable of recognizing individual Aeriels and have been known to form cautious, long-lasting tolerances with those who respect their nesting grounds.

Ground civilizations such as the Eldorians who have attempted to capture Stormhawks for war mounts have met catastrophic failure, the birds refuse all bonds not freely given. Among the Aeriels, presenting a naturally shed Stormhawk feather to a newborn is considered the highest blessing a sky-warden can bestow.
