Aether-Sprites belongs to companion in the Landorya bestiary. Its usual habitat is Aether-Sprites inhabit the aetheric plane primarily but move freely through all five elemental planes and the Material Plane as their duties require. Their largest natural concentrations exist within and around the Aetherium and the Aurora Sanctum, where the high ambient aetheric energy provides comfortable resting conditions between assignments.. Aether-Sprites are tiny beings of pure condensed aetheric energy given semi-stable form, appearing to observers as luminescent figures roughly the size of a human hand, their bodies continuously shifting between greater and lesser definition as their energy concentration fluctuates with their activity level and proximity to aetheric sources. At rest, a Sprite appears as a small gently glowing humanoid form of silver-violet light with features that blur at their edges like watercolour ink at a wet boundary. In motion, they trail elongated streamers of aetheric light that persist for several seconds after the Sprite has passed, creating calligraphic arcs through the air. When phasing between the Material Plane and the aetheric plane, they thin to near-invisibility and then re-emerge with a soft audible chime unique to each individual Sprite, allowing bonded Aether-Weavers to identify them by sound alone.

Aether-Sprites are curious, playful, and easily distracted by interesting resonance phenomena, which makes them enthusiastic but occasionally unreliable couriers when something cosmologically fascinating presents itself along their route. They are genuinely fond of their bonded Aether-Weavers in a way that seems to exceed functional utility, often remaining near their bond-partner during non-courier periods simply because they prefer the company. They respond poorly to being ordered but readily to being asked.

The oldest Aether-Weaver texts describe Aether-Sprites as fragments of the aetheric plane that achieved individuality through extended contact with Luminara during the Aetherium's founding. According to this account, the process of crystallizing the aetheric plane into physical form produced a kind of pressure wave in the raw aetheric material, and the portions of aether caught in the wave were compressed into distinct entities rather than remaining part of the undifferentiated whole. The Sprites themselves, when asked about their origin in ways they can comprehend, produce a resonance response that Aether-Weavers interpret as something between amusement and affection, which scholars argue suggests the account is broadly correct even if the specifics are too large for the Sprites to confirm.
