Rimewyrm

Rimewyrm belongs to apex predator in the Landorya bestiary. Its usual habitat is Dwells in the deepest glacial trenches and beneath frozen lakes within the Frostbound Wastes, surfacing only to hunt or during seasonal ice-shifts.. Among the Frostborn, the Rimewyrm is regarded as one of the oldest sovereigns of the Frostbound Wastes, and its shedded scale-plates are among the most prized materials for crafti… Key abilities include Exhalation of a concentrated cone of freezing vapor capable of encasing prey in ice, Burrowing through packed snow and ice at surprising speed, and Scales that reflect Runecraft-based attacks, deflecting minor magical strikes.

A serpentine creature of immense length, its scales are translucent plates of pale blue-white that resemble compressed glacier ice, refracting light into cold spectral hues. Beneath those scales, a faint pulse of deeper blue light travels rhythmically along its body like a slow, frozen heartbeat.

Solitary and territorial, the Rimewyrm is not mindlessly aggressive but is utterly merciless when its domain is encroached upon. It is ancient in temperament, slow to act, but overwhelming when provoked.

Frostborn legend names the eldest Rimewyrm 'Valdrek the Unthawing,' said to be as old as the glacier itself and large enough to swallow a longhouse whole. Scale-plate armor forged from a slain Rimewyrm and etched with Runecraft is called Valdrek's Skin and is reserved for the mightiest Frostborn champions. Southern scholars from beyond the Northern Borders of Landorya have documented Rimewyrm attacks on expeditions that ventured too deep into the Wastes without Frostborn guides. It is whispered that Valdrek still lives somewhere beneath the oldest ice, and that on the coldest nights, the trembling of the ground is the wyrm turning in its sleep.
