Rituals & Daily Practices
16.1 Daily Rituals
| Aspect | Details |
|---|---|
| Daily Rituals | - Ritual of First Light - morning attunement with a Twilight Crystal to absorb Veil-energy. - Root-Resonance - checking the local Weave through communion with trees; any anomalies are reported to the Ministry of Growth & Renewal. - Veil-Whisper - a brief evening meditation where a Fey releases accumulated emotional residue into the Weave, maintaining personal balance. |
16.2 Rites of Passage
| Aspect | Details |
|---|---|
| Rites of Passage | - Naming Ceremony - when a young Fey's true name crystallizes (typically after 50-100 years of life), the entire Court-Circle gathers to witness the name being inscribed into the Twilight Stones. The name is then sealed, spoken only by the individual and their closest confidants. - Rite of the Ever-Gleam - the trial of governance, a night-long labyrinth that tests illusion mastery, wisdom, and courage. - The Twilight Confluence - the reproductive ritual where two Fey merge essences to birth a new life within a pocket-dimension garden. - The Fading - when a Fey chooses to end their immortal existence, they perform a Rite of Return, dissolving their essence back into the Weave. The Court-Circle mourns for a full Gleam-cycle, and the departed's memories are preserved in the Dream-Weave Archive. |
16.3 Seasonal Ceremonies
| Aspect | Details |
|---|---|
| Seasonal Ceremonies | - Seasonal Re-Weaving - a collective ritual at the cusp of each Gleam transition; all Veil-Weavers channel energy simultaneously to repair ley-line damage. - The Wild Hunt - a ritualized pursuit led by Lord Thorne during Dusk-Rising and Shadow-Wane; ostensibly a hunt for rogue magical entities, it also serves as a display of Unseelie strength and a pressure-valve for accumulated tension. - Night of the Veiled Moon - the mid-Gleam collective dreaming ceremony. |
16.4 Protective Rituals
| Aspect | Details |
|---|---|
| Protective Rituals | - Veil-Warding - the casting of illusion barriers around settlements and sacred sites; refreshed weekly by designated Veil-Weavers. - Name-Binding - the defensive use of true names to seal dangerous entities or enforce pacts; performed only by the Court of Dusk's judges. - Dream-Sealing - the locking of a section of the Dream-Weave to prevent intrusion by hostile psychic entities; a responsibility of the Ministry of Veil & Illusion. |
16.5 The Rite of Reflected Souls
The familiar-bonding ritual deserves detailed description. The Fey and the prospective familiar are brought to a Reflection Pool, a body of still, enchanted water. Both drink from the pool and then fall into a shared dream-state. Within the dream, they experience each other's deepest memories and emotions. If the bond is compatible, their Weave-signatures harmonize, and they awaken linked. If incompatible, both wake with no memory of the attempt. Failed bondings are not shameful, they simply indicate that the particular pairing was not meant to be. A Fey may attempt the rite with multiple creatures over their lifetime but can only hold one active familiar bond at a time.
