Limitations

Underground, an aeromancer grows weak. So does he in dead-air pockets during heavy sky-storms. Only many casters working together can steer large storms. Afterwards they are tired for days.

Common Applications

  • Gale's Embrace, a wind cocoon against projectiles and opposing flyers
  • Voice of the Tempest, a pressure wave of compressed air
  • The Stillness Veil, perfect calm around ships or buildings
  • Windthread Tether, invisible air cables mid-flight
  • Breath of the Archon, a cyclone from many aeromancers that clears sky-lanes

Cultural Significance

Aeromancy belongs to Aeriel life the way flight does. Children learn simple wind-shaping before they soar long distances. Without this magic the high trade routes that feed the islands would not exist.

Lore

The first deliberate act of aeromancy was a funeral rite. Elder Caelari Vessin Ashwing called a gentle descending gyre that carried the first Archon's ashes up toward the stars. The Aeriels say the sky remembers every wind their people have ever shaped. During the Duskwind Crisis, Archon Seraphis Dawnmantle stretched an aeromantic lattice across the continent and turned a catastrophic sky-storm away from Caelum's most crowded islands. A third of the sky defence lay bedridden for a season afterwards.
