Lore
The Aeriels teach that astromancy is an old memory. The Celestials encoded its principles into the race's mind, and the first Caelari elders unlocked them by watching the sky with perfect attention for centuries. The Codex of Ascending Lights is said to have been written in one night by seven Star-Readers who each transcribed the same vision, when all five of Landorya's visible planets stood together. Cassiveth the Unmoored read too deep into the end of Caelum and was lost to stellar blindness. He wandered the floating islands for a century muttering star-names before, the Aeriels say, he ascended into the sky he had stared into too long.
