Limitations

The greatest works need rare materials and almost meditative mastery. Rushing or using inferior ore yields weapons that shatter under their own runes. Rarer materials demand more exacting inscription. A failed binding wastes both the material and months of labor.

Common Applications

  • The Forging of the Thunderhammer, legendary creation ritual said to take forty days at the Ever-Flame
  • Crystal-Core Binding, seals a living crystal matrix into a golem frame
  • Adamantine Tempering, infuses Adamantine with layered defensive runes against elemental attack
  • Gem-Infusion Casting, fuses arcane gemstones into ceramics or tools
  • Aetherite Shard Sealing, runic stamping of currency shards for purity and conductivity

Cultural Significance

Forgecraft is the first of the three cultural pillars: Craft, Kin, and Stone. Every Dwarf is expected to master at least one forge-discipline. It is also the cornerstone of Dwarven economic power across Landorya. Aetherite alloys, runic weapons, and Crystal-Core Golems are considered without equal.

Lore

The Dwarves of the Iron Mountains trace their identity to the moment the Celestials breathed the Rune of Awakening into the first forged flesh. Forgecraft is the mortal continuation of that divine act. The Thunderhammer, forged around 160 AE, remains the supreme achievement. Legend holds forty master smiths worked in unison at Borgan's Hearth. Its completion marked them as sovereign inheritors of the Iron Mountains, not mere settlers. During the Drakonian Siege of Baragorn, the Thunderhammer with the Runic Counter-Charge shattered the siege lines and drove the Drakonians from Dwarven stone.
