Magic Profile

Nature
Enchantment Craft weaves magical energy into physical objects: arms, armor, tools, and mechanical devices. The enchantment becomes as much part of the structure as the metal or wood. Unlike Sylvan Magic, it is precise, architectural, and deliberate, governed by formulas refined over centuries of Eldorian smithing.

Key Aspects

0

Runic inscription during the forging process

1

Crystal-core power anchoring in mechanical devices

2

Layered protective spell-binding on armor

3

Sharpness and elemental edge-work on blades

4

Resonance tuning between enchanted objects and their bearers

Practitioners

0

Master metalsmiths of the renowned Eldorian smithing guilds

1

Enchanter-artificers who serve noble houses and the military

2

Guild-trained woodcraft enchanters specializing in living-wood constructs

3

Steam-and-sorcery engineers of the great manufactories

Limitations

An enchantment is only as stable as its material. Flawed ore, unseasoned wood, or a rushed forge causes bound magic to fracture and discharge violently. A smith can only anchor as many active enchantments as focused will allows. Overextension brings exhaustion and collapse.

Common Applications

  • Everflame Temper, keeps a blade's edge supernaturally keen and warm to its bearer's hand
  • Ironbark Binding, melds a protective sylvan ward into armor against blade and spell
  • Crystal-Heart Ignition, inscribes a magical crystal into a device as its eternal engine
  • Resonance Lock, attunes a weapon or tool to a single bearer, inert to all others
  • Shatter-Seal, releases a burst of repelling force when armor breaks

Cultural Significance

Enchantment Craft is the engine of Eldorian economic power and diplomatic prestige. Enchanted arms and goods are prized across Landorya. A sword with a master Eldorian mark commands respect in any court. The Ministry of Crafts and Trade administers the craft. Export is a primary lever for Eldoria's lack of native raw materials.

Lore

Origins trace to a legendary compact between an early Eldorian king and the sylvan creatures of the deep forest. They are said to have taught the first smiths to hear the voice of metal and wood, and to know what shape and spell each material would hold. Smithing families guarded the knowledge for generations before the great guilds systematized it. During the Age of Enlightenment, enchanter-artificers worked with University of the Arcane scholars on the first treatises on enchantment matrices. There is a quiet guild taboo against enchanting an object solely for assassination or treachery. Masters argue that a blade made in bad faith cannot hold a true enchantment, as the material itself refuses the binding.
