Limitations
Starweaving needs a clear link to sky and open sea at once. It weakens in enclosed waters, under total cloud cover, or when the Tidesong Gyre enters its rare dormant phase. A Starweaver cannot invent a path. They can only reveal and strengthen what currents and stars already allow.

Cultural Significance
Navigational Starweaving underpins the Islanders' role as Landorya's preeminent sea traders and cultural exchange facilitators. Without it their open-ocean networks would fail. Every major diplomatic alliance they forged was enabled in practice by a Wayfinder who could deliver envoys safely and swiftly to shores no other navigator would attempt.
Lore
The discipline crystallized in the earliest settlement generations. Diverse peoples arriving at the Shimmering Isles each brought fragments of star-lore and current-knowledge. The first Islanders forged these into one system greater than any single tradition. The oldest Starchart, the Mother Chart, rests in a sealed vault under the Tidecharters' library, submerged in water from the Tidesong Gyre. It is said the chart still updates itself each night when the stars rise. The most celebrated Wayfinder, known only as the Navigator of the Pale Crossing, opened the treacherous passage north of the Abyss Gate with Starweaving and Tidal Weaving combined. That feat has never been replicated. The council banned combining the two disciplines without unanimous approval. Falsifying a Tidechart or Starchart inscription is among the gravest crimes in Islander law, punished by permanent exile from the sea.
