Lore
The Mystarans say Arcane Mastery was remembered, not invented. Their ancestors did not learn magic so much as wake up inside it, as though Mystara had always been speaking and they finally listened. The Conclave of the Wise preserves a founding text said to be written by the first Arch-Sage. It describes the collective Kindling when an entire generation awakened during a ley line convergence. Since then the Proving of the Veil has ensured that only those who truly command the arcane, not merely recite its forms, may guide the people.
