Because Glyph Magic is anchored to personal essence, it is self-limiting. A practitioner can only project what the reservoir allows. Depletion dims or dormants the marks and strips the Mystaran of their most intimate magical tool. The glyphs also resist outside observation and documentation. Glyph Magic cannot be fully taught from texts. It must be felt within. Transmission to non-Mystarans is effectively impossible.

Lore
Mystaran tradition holds that the first Psychic Marks appeared by necessity, not design. During a great magical siege in Mystara's early history a generation of young Mystarans too untrained for formal combat spontaneously manifested glyphs that shielded entire enclave districts. The Conclave took that as proof that glyph power was not lesser magic but its most honest expression: the body itself as a living arcane instrument. Since then the Kindling has been celebrated and carefully observed. Ministry of Arcana scholars attend each awakening to record what they can of the first patterns. The marks will shift as the child grows, but that first configuration carries echoes of what the Mystaran's full power will one day become.
