Limitations
No prophecy through this art is absolute. Every vision is one thread among many possible futures. Misreading the weight of a thread can lead to catastrophically wrong guidance. Sustained prophetic work strains the sense of present-time. Seers can temporarily lose the ability to tell past, present, and future apart.
Common Applications

- ✦ The Mirror of Moments, reflects a past event by reading its residual imprint on the local magical field
- ✦ Threadcasting, isolates one probability thread and traces the most likely consequence of an action
- ✦ The Whispering Silence, attunes the seer to ambient omens of Mystara's mist-lands over days
- ✦ Confluence Reading, multiple Ministry seers align perceptions into a consensus vision
Cultural Significance
Among the Mystarans, prophecy is a public office. The Ministry of Prophecy sits at the heart of the Conclave of the Wise. No major decision affecting Mystaran society is made without its seers. Neighboring peoples, including Nereids who share a sensitivity to unseen currents, have sought Mystaran counsel. The Mystarans share such visions only when it serves the broader magical balance of Landorya.
Lore
The Ministry of Prophecy's founding is traced to a crisis called the Blind Century. Relying only on Arcane Mastery and ignoring prophetic currents already present in their land, the Mystarans failed to foresee a catastrophic ley line convergence that devastated three enclaves. In the aftermath the Conclave institutionalized divination as equal in standing to arcane research. The legendary seer Velisandre the Ageless is said to have perceived the nature of her own final astral journey years before she took it, describing it in detail to her students. The Mystarans still study that account as both prophetic and spiritual text.
