The Cinder Codex records that when Pyrathon the Undying first erupted from the planet's molten core, the Pyrakians wept flame rather than tears. The Eternal Ember he placed in the heart of Ignis Aeterna became the first focus of pyromantic instruction. Every license issued by the Flame-Council was treated as a fragment of that original divine gift. During the Dark Times, when surface fire was extinguished by catastrophe, Pyrakian masters sustained the art in deep magma chambers lit only by their own bodies. The discipline had become inseparable from their blood. Modern Drakonians hold that this same fire still pulses in their veins, carried forward by the Rite of Ember-Passing that transformed willing Pyrakians into the first dragon-kin.
