Geography
The confluence sits at the heart of the Verdant Plains, where flat alluvial terraces widen into marshy islands split by channels of clear, swiftly moving water. The meeting of the three rivers creates powerful eddies and a characteristic roar audible from the surrounding plains. Stone causeways and ancient ferry landings line the banks, and the central island — where the three currents meet — hosts the Pillar of the Accord, an obelisk of crystal-infused granite marking the signing of the Treaty of the Three Rivers.
Climate
The confluence produces a mild, humid microclimate year-round, with river mists each morning and afternoon breezes that smell faintly of mineral water and riverine herbs. Winters bring high water and occasional flooding of the low terraces; summers are warm and clear, ideal for the river ceremonies held here at Midsummer.

History
In Year 312, the newly crowned Emperor Aurelius I chose Three Rivers as the site for unification negotiations precisely because no single city-state controlled the confluence — its waters belonged to all. The Treaty of the Three Rivers was signed on the central island, witnessed by representatives of what would become Azaria's twelve founding provinces. The treaty, renewed every century, has been amended to include the Sylvanos Elves and Nereid Confederacy as co-signatories, making Three Rivers the symbolic anchor of Landorya's longest-standing inter-racial peace agreement.
Legend & Lore
Azarian river-folk say that the night before Emperor Aurelius arrived to broker the unification, three River-Serpents were seen spiraling together at the confluence — one from each tributary — and remained intertwined at the surface for the span of a breath before diving in unison. Elders interpreted it as the rivers themselves consenting to the peace. The image of three coiled serpents, borrowed from this tale, appears on the original Imperial Charter's frontispiece and was the first symbol struck on the Crystal Mark currency.
Life & Culture
Pilgrims, scholars, and traders pass through Three Rivers year-round, drawn by its historical significance or simply by the trade routes that naturally converge here. A market town has grown on the northern bank, its quays busy with flat-bottomed barges loading grain and unloading dwarven steel. On the anniversary of the treaty signing, provincial delegations gather at the Pillar of the Accord for a formal renewal ceremony that draws crowds from across the Verdant Plains.
