The Order sent replacements twice in the first century; both times Iristhal remained because the replacements were less effective and the Lighthouse's Starlight Beacon required calibration that only he, by then, had the accumulated sensitivity to perform. The Order eventually formalised what had already been the case for centuries and registered Iristhal as the permanent keeper. He has not formally agreed to this designation but has also not objected.
