Her appointment as Keeper of Sealed Records came after the previous Keeper died without a successor plan and the Wind-Council needed someone who already knew where everything was. She has held the position for sixty-seven years, during which time she has denied access to sealed materials to three Archons, seventeen Ministry officials, two foreign dignitaries, and one very determined academic who kept returning with new credentials for eleven years before she allowed him partial access to precisely two documents. She keeps a log of every denied request, which she considers the most important record in her care.
Daily Life
Faelan arrives at the inner sanctum before the Archive's official opening and leaves after it closes. Her morning is spent on document preservation and cataloguing. Afternoons are access administration — she reviews every formal request in person rather than by correspondence, because she can learn more about why someone wants a record from watching them ask than from reading their stated reasons. Story Hooks
- 1 Faelan summons outsiders — not requests, summons — to the inner sanctum and places three sealed documents before them without explanation. She tells them only that these will be needed within the next season, that she cannot provide them through official channels, and that she has calculated the probability that the right people will find them otherwise at less than twelve percent.
- 2 A fire in the outer Archive destroys forty years of administrative records — ordinary materials with no seal on them.
