The Codex Primus
Also known as: The First Codex, Elandros' Book
The first physical copy of the Codices of Harmony, hand-inscribed by Elandros, the founder of the Celestial Order, on sheets of pressed Starlight Lily petals bound in Celestial Crystal covers. The text is written in a form of early Stellascript that predates the standardised script taught at the Resonance Academy, incorporating elements of direct Celestial Cant transliteration that later versions of the Codices rendered in more accessible mortal approximations. The entire volume is preserved in a time-stasis field that keeps it in the exact condition it was in the moment Elandros completed the final page, preventing any deterioration across the more than a thousand years since its creation.

Overview
The Codex Primus is a unique sacred text in Landorya. Its known origin is Elandros inscribed the Codex Primus over a period of forty years following the founding of the Temple of the First Dawn, recording his Oracle vision in full and supplementing it with teachings received through subsequent dream-visions from all five Celestials. The time-stasis field was applied by Chronos itself, through a manifestation of the Silver Wanderer Avatar, on the night Elandros completed the final page.. It is currently associated with Temple of the First Dawn, innermost sanctum of the Crystal Codex chamber, accessible only to the High Resonant and the Oracle Keeper. Its most cited abilities include Reading passages aloud from the Primus produces stronger resonance harmonics than reading from any later copy, as the direct transliteration retains frequencies that later standardisation removed, The time-stasis field surrounding it can be temporarily extended by an Chronos-domain practitioner to protect a small area or object, and Physical proximity to the Primus enhances the Oracle sensitivity of individuals with innate Ætheric gifts, as documented in the records of senior Oracle Keepers who consult it before major divination sessions. Accounts also warn of a drawback: There is no curse on the Primus itself, but the act of reading the untranslated Celestial Cant passages produces involuntary resonance responses in the reader:…
History
The Primus has remained in the Temple since Elandros placed it there, with the sole recorded exception of the fifth-century Rift Crisis, when it was moved to the Starwatch Citadel for consultation during the emergency. Its return to the Temple was celebrated as a formal ceremony and is commemorated on the Order's calendar as Primus Day, observed on the anniversary of its return. Numerous later scholars have argued that the untranslated passages contain detailed instructions for procedures the Order has not yet attempted, but the High Resonant's council has maintained that the risk of misinterpretation outweighs the potential benefit.
Powers & Abilities
- ✦ Reading passages aloud from the Primus produces stronger resonance harmonics than reading from any later copy, as the direct transliteration retains frequencies that later standardisation removed
- ✦ The time-stasis field surrounding it can be temporarily extended by an Chronos-domain practitioner to protect a small area or object
- ✦ Physical proximity to the Primus enhances the Oracle sensitivity of individuals with innate Ætheric gifts, as documented in the records of senior Oracle Keepers who consult it before major divination sessions
- ✦ Contains passages not reproduced in any later Codices edition, accessible only through direct reading of the original
Curse or Drawback
There is no curse on the Primus itself, but the act of reading the untranslated Celestial Cant passages produces involuntary resonance responses in the reader: emotions, visions, and physical sensations corresponding to the original Oracle vision that inspired the passage. Unprepared readers have been rendered temporarily incapacitated by the intensity of these experiences. Only senior Oracle Keepers are permitted to read the Cant passages directly.
