Thought-Fox belongs to psychic familiar in the Landorya bestiary. Its usual habitat is Thought-Foxes roam the quieter highland margins of The Astral Plateau, though bonded individuals were kept within the halls of Luminara and the corridors of The Labyrinth of Thought.. For the Order of the Starlight, Thought-Foxes were the most intimate of all companions, bonded to individual Star-Sages as psychic extensions of the self, their emotional impressi… Key abilities include Semi-telepathic communication through projected emotional impressions, Empathic resonance, sensing and broadcasting the hidden feelings of those nearby, and Psychic bonding to a single individual, creating a lifelong emotional link.

The Thought-Fox resembles a small, slender fox with fur that shimmers between pale silver and deep indigo depending on its angle to available light, as though its coat were woven from concentrated twilight. Its eyes are oversized and iris-less, deep pools of liquid white that seem to reflect not the world around it, but the interior landscape of whoever meets its gaze.

Thought-Foxes are deeply perceptive and quietly loyal, forming irreplaceable bonds with their chosen companions while remaining aloof to all others. They are not aggressive, but their constant emotional broadcasting means that dishonesty or cruelty in their presence becomes immediately apparent to all who can sense aether.

It is said that when a Thought-Fox's bonded companion died, the creature would sit unmoving at the Veil Nexus for seven days, broadcasting grief so profound that nearby Star-Sages were temporarily unable to cast. The Mystarans of Mystara preserve the tradition of psychic animal bonding in their familiar-binding rites, believed to descend directly from Starlight practices. Among the Ancient Five, only the Talamhari were known to distrust the Thought-Foxes, claiming the animals were spies clothed in sentiment, an accusation the Order of the Starlight firmly denied on the grounds of aetheric transparency.
