The central region of Eldoria, bounded by the Frostleaf Marches to the north, the Amber River Valleys to the south, and the Boundary Marches at the realm's outer edges. Three great rivers converge at the heart of the region, at the site of Sylvanhaven, before flowing outward in different directions. The forest here is the most ancient in Eldoria: individual trees have stood for over a thousand years, and their root systems interweave with the underground magical field in ways that druidic scholars are still mapping.

Temperate and stable, moderated by the density of the forest canopy and the constant circulation of ambient magical energy. The deep emerald aura of summer is most intense here, and the green-gold surge of spring arrives earlier in the Heartlands than anywhere else in the realm. The region generates enough ambient magical warmth that the silver dormancy of winter is gentle, with the forest entering a quiet rather than a frozen state.

The Greenwood Heartlands are the origin point of Eldorian civilization. The founding covenant with the living land was struck here in the earliest era of Eldorian settlement, when the first Eldorians found the forest in a state of magical crisis caused by an ancient catastrophe and chose to remain and heal it rather than pass through to more hospitable lands. The Heartlands have been the administrative and spiritual center of the civilization ever since, and their continued ecological health is understood as the literal foundation of Eldorian existence. The Office of the Chronicler's oldest crystal-archive recordings, dating to within a generation of the founding, were made here.

The forest of the Greenwood Heartlands is said to dream. Druid Wardens who have spent extended periods in deep meditation in the old-growth groves report experiencing what they describe as the forest's memories: vast slow impressions of seasons turning across centuries, of the Years of the Fractured Canopy when inter-house conflict scarred the ancient trees, of the surge of the green aura when the Age of Enlightenment began and Eldorian knowledge began flowing outward to the wider world. Whether these are genuine perceptions or products of deep druidic attunement, no scholar has yet been able to determine.

The Heartlands are thinly populated by Landoryan standards, the old-growth forest deliberately maintained in its wild state with human settlement concentrated at Sylvanhaven and a handful of smaller guild-towns. The citizens of the Heartlands include the highest concentration of Druid Wardens in the realm, along with the scholars and enchanters attached to the Ministry of Education and the Office of the Chronicler. Life in the forest settlement zones is governed by strict environmental protocols: no structure may be built that requires a living tree to be felled, sound above a certain volume is prohibited in designated grove zones, and the Seasonal Aura Monitoring Crystal readings from Heartlands stations are treated as the primary health indicators for the whole of Eldoria.
