Geography
Situated at the confluence of three great rivers in the heart of the Greenwood Heartlands, Sylvanhaven is laid out in concentric rings of districts radiating outward from the Grand Hall of the Council at its center. The rivers provide natural boundaries between the inner administrative ring, the middle guild and market districts, and the outer residential quarters. Old-growth trees whose trunks measure dozens of feet across stand throughout the city, incorporated into its living-wood architecture rather than cleared for construction.
Climate
Temperate and mild throughout the year, moderated by the convergence of three river systems and the dense ambient magical aura of the Greenwood Heartlands. Spring brings a brilliant green-gold luminescence to the canopy and a surge of warmth; winter is gentle by Landoryan standards, the pale silver-blue aura of the dormant season settling over the city like a second snowfall.

History
Sylvanhaven was founded at the convergence of the three rivers in the era that Eldorian crystal archives record as the Years of the First Covenant, when the earliest Eldorians pledged stewardship of the living land in exchange for its sustenance. From that founding moment it grew into the administrative and cultural center of a civilization that would come to influence all of Landorya. The establishment of the Council of Regions in the aftermath of the Years of the Fractured Canopy cemented Sylvanhaven's role as the seat of constitutional governance, and the subsequent construction of the Office of the Chronicler's crystal-archive tower made it the memory-keeper of the entire civilization.
Legend & Lore
Eldorian tradition holds that the three rivers of Sylvanhaven shifted their courses on the night the First Covenant was spoken, drawn by the resonance of the founding pledge to embrace the site where the Green Shepherd planted his staff. That staff is said to have rooted and grown into the Great Oak at the city's ceremonial heart, whose rings the Druid Wardens read as a living chronicle of the civilization's health. In years when the Council has governed wisely, the Great Oak puts out an extra ring of unusual breadth; in years of division, the ring is thin and scarred. Whether this is legend or measurable fact is a matter of ongoing debate among scholars at the University of the Arcane.
Life & Culture
Life in Sylvanhaven moves to a rhythm shaped by the guild schedule, the river tides, and the seasonal shifts of the ambient magical aura. Mornings begin with the soft transition of enchanted crystal lanterns giving way to the green-filtered daylight of the canopy, and the city stirs to the sound of steam train arrivals at the terminus and the opening of market stalls in the ring-roads. Guild halls fill with craftspeople whose work ranges from aetherite alloy smithing to illuminated Leafscript manuscript production. The Grand Hall of the Council convenes in the late morning on legislative days, and the terraced viewing galleries above its chamber are a favored gathering point for citizens who track the Council's deliberations. Evenings bring the smell of communal guild dinners and, on festival nights, the Green Music performed in the open spaces between the living-wood buildings, the enchanted lyres of Sylvanhaven's finest musicians filling the canopy air with harmonics that carry for miles downriver.
