The Great Sapphire Trench descends to depths unmeasured by any surface civilization, its walls of layered sedimentary rock studded with hydrothermal vents that warm and mineral-enrich the water throughout. Aquari Palace is anchored to the trench's eastern wall by root-like coral formations kilometres in length. The palace complex spreads both vertically along the wall face and horizontally into the trench water via suspended bridge-corridors. Surrounding the palace are the Aqua Abyss gardens, cultivated kelp-forests providing food and raw materials.

The trench maintains a perpetual cold-water column broken by warm hydrothermal upwellings that create complex current systems exploited by Tide-Weavers for both transport and power generation. Pressure intensifies dramatically with depth; mortal Bound Settlement residents above the pressure threshold rely on Elemental Attunement Bands adapted with pressure-regulation enchantments. Bioluminescence from the coral framework keeps the trench light-independent of any surface cycle.

Mareas grew Aquari Palace over fifteen hundred years of coral cultivation, seeding each new spire on a solstice tide as an act of elemental ceremony. The Tide-Rift Skirmish with the Earth Kingdom approximately three thousand eight hundred years before the present disrupted several of the palace's outer coral formations when Earth elementals attempted to reshape the trench floor; the repaired sections show visible generational variation in coral colour and density. Annual Tide-Blessing ceremonies conducted at the Coral Cathedral have been held without interruption since the palace's founding, a record of continuity unique among all five kingdoms.

The oldest Tide-Weavers speak of a chamber at the very base of the Great Sapphire Trench so deep that the water there does not move at all, a stillness older than the Water Kingdom itself. Mareas is said to have descended to this chamber once and never fully returned, leaving a portion of her awareness behind as a guardian presence that Tide-Weavers can still consult in states of deep elemental meditation. Those who claim to have received her counsel describe seeing their own reflection in water that contains no surface to reflect from.

Aquari Palace operates in harmony with the tidal rhythms transmitted through the Deep Earth's water table, each administrative session and ceremonial event timed to align with resonance peaks detectable through the palace's coral receivers. Tide-Weavers maintain the coral structure through daily attuned meditation that encourages growth and seals micro-fractures. Siren-Dolphins move freely between the palace stables and the open trench, often joining the Tide-Blessing processions as honoured participants. Mortal residents in the Bound Settlements above the main palace complex supply manufactured goods and maintain the pressure-interface chambers that allow cross-depth commerce.
