The citadel occupies the highest ridgeline of the Heartstone Plateau, a vast shelf of compressed basalt and quartz-threaded granite situated at the convergence of six major Earth ley-lines. Its foundations extend thousands of metres downward, merging seamlessly with the plateau's bedrock. The surrounding plateau is terraced into districts: the Quarry Circles where raw stone is shaped, the Resonance Galleries where Stone-Shapers train, and the Outer Burrows housing the mortal Bound Settlements.
