Frosthold is embedded within and around a glacier so ancient that its deepest ice predates reliable Frostborn memory. The outermost districts consist of stone longhouses built against the glacier's base, while the inner districts are carved directly into the ice — a labyrinth of corridors, communal halls, storage vaults, and the great Council Chamber where the Chiefs convene.

Perpetual winter grips Frosthold, with temperatures rarely climbing above freezing even during the brief summer. Thermal Crystals and geothermal vents carefully redirected by Frostborn engineers provide warmth in the carved interior, making the glacier's heart paradoxically the warmest and most sheltered place in the wastes.

Frosthold has existed in some form for as long as Frostborn oral history extends, growing over generations from a single clan's winter refuge into the de facto capital of a dispersed people. It survived the Age of Fracture four centuries ago only because the shaman Eira Snowsong chose Frosthold as the site of her rallying call to the surviving clans, an act that saved the Frostborn as a people and cemented Frosthold's central role in their society. Since then, the city has grown steadily, its inner glacier carved ever deeper by successive generations of ice-shapers.

Frostborn elders say that Glacius himself breathed the glacier that forms Frosthold's core into existence during the first winter of the world, and that the low resonant hum audible in the deepest carved chambers is the god's own heartbeat — slow, patient, and eternal. It is said that any Chief who rules without wisdom will hear that hum quicken into an irregular rhythm, a warning from Glacius that poor governance endangers his people.

Daily life in Frosthold revolves around the communal rhythms of the Frosthollow Clan, amplified by the constant traffic of emissaries, traders, and petitioners from outlying clans. The streets carved between the glacier and the stone longhouses fill each morning with hunters departing, crafters opening their workshops, and shamans conducting the brief sunrise ceremony at the Frost Naming Circle. Council sessions draw representatives from across the wastes, and during clan gatherings the city's population can triple within days.
